Quick Update

Math:

Our in-class learning about multiplication is over for now but I still encourage students to practise their multiplication facts at home! Here are some easy ideas:

-play multiplication war with a deck of cards
-visit a multiplication website and play games (see under "websites" for the links)
-make flash cards for multiplication facts that you do not have memorized
-make up a song/rap about the multiplication facts that you do not have memorized

Spelling:

Our first spelling test with the new program will be Monday, March 6th. There will be 20 words randomly chosen from the first 3 spelling sorts.

New Spelling Program

I am excited to announce that we are beginning a new spelling program for Term Two! Students will not have spelling homework this week as we are spending time learning about the new program at school. Stay tuned for a note that explains the new program coming soon!

Pioneer Day!

On Friday, February 10th we will transform our classroom into a one-room school house! Students are really looking forward to this day. Today a note was sent home explaining this special day. Please let me know if you have any questions.



During a discussion today the novels "Little House on the Prairie" came up. Some students may be interested in borrowing these books from the library to continue reading about what life was like in the pioneer days. The books look like this:

Glow in the Dark Dance Tomorrow night!

Here is a note from parent council about the dance tomorrow night! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.


  • The dance is from 6:00-8:30 pm.
  • Pizza, drinks, popcorn and snacks for sale
  • Wear white or neon colours to ensure “glowing” 
  • STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE INDOOR SHOES WITH THEM!! NO BOOTS AND NO ACCESS TO CLASSROOMS TO GET THEIR INDOOR SHOES!!
  • PARENTS MUST ACCOMPANY STUDENTS IN KINDERGATEN TO GRADE 5!!!
